Birkett Hall
FINC Architects were commissioned to provide a scheme for 8 units off Main Road, Woodham Ferrers, Essex. The existing site was a derelict livery stables and steel workshop both of which required significant redevelopment.
All new homes will be two storey with all one storey garage spaces, which is reflective of the wider pattern of form in the local area All properties on site will be designed to achieve M 4(2) building regulations standards in order to promote accessibility and adaptability for future residents. Furthermore, The client wants to deliver high quality new homes that provide comfortable and light living environments that enhance the sense of place. A such all new homes site exceed the Nationally Described Space Standards (NDSS).
A strict material pallet of red brick, white render is proposed stone detailing and a variation of roof tiles (concrete clay coloured in tones of red, brown and dark grey). This range of materials has been suggested to reflect the adjacent houses and local school. A key feature of the development is the new planting on the strip to create an avenue going towards the main Birket Hall Site and that the hedgerows to the western part of the boundary is retained. The development will result in a net gain in planting on site and net gains in biodiversity quality.
Offering countryside views, this exclusive development enjoys elegant features, opulent finishes and truly enviable surroundings. The high specification will include a fully fitted kitchen with Bosch appliances, white bathroom sanitary ware with contemporary large tiles, carpet & Amtico flooring, cottage style internal door and professionally landscaped gardens.
